• Boys Soccer Sweet Home High School’s boys soccer team suffered two losses on the home pitch last week against Stayton and Cascade. The team lost 8-0 against Stayton on October 10, before losing a closer match against Cascade 4-3 on October 12.
With just a handful of games left in the season, the Huskies played Newport on Tuesday, October 17. They’ll take on Philomath this Thursday for senior night on Husky home turf.
• Girls Soccer The Sweet Home girls soccer team went one for one on the road last week, picking up a win against Stayton before falling to Cascade. The Huskies wracked up 4 goals against Stayton without letting them have any.
A different story played out in Cascade, where the team struggled to score a goal. Final score in that match came out 8-0. The Huskies ended the week with 2-9 overall for the season. They started this week against Newport, who boasted a 5-5-1 overall heading into the match up. Thursday, the girls team will square off against 9-2 Philomath during senior night.
• Football Sweet Home’s Huskies fell to Ashland Friday, October 13, losing 52-6 on Grizzly turf. That puts the team at 0-7 for the 2023 season. It’s back home for the Huskies on Friday, when they take on OSAA-ranked #17 Stayton. Kick off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
• Volleyball Sweet Home High put up one win and a loss in their two matches last week. Up against Cascades High School on Tuesday, October 10, the team lost the first three sets 25-15, 26-24 and 25-20.
But the Huskies were able to bounce back on Thursday, clearing out Newport High School by winning the first three sets 25-14, 25-17 and 25-14. The team is now sitting at a record of 9-10 overall this season.
The Huskies are back on home turf this week. Tuesday, October 17 they faced off against Philomath High School. On Thursday, October 19, Sweet Home volleyball takes on North Marion High School for senior night.
