Thomas Michael “Mike” Wilson, 79, of Sweet Home died Nov. 12, 2021.
He was born Sept. 2, 1942 in Toledo to Ellis and Eleanor (Stock) Wilson.
Most of his grade school years were spent in Toledo. When he was in the eighth grade, his family moved to the Yoncalla/Drain area.
In his senior year, 1959, Mr. Wilson entered the United States Army, serving between 1959 and 1962.
He was baptized unto Christ Feb. 22, 1952, and was a long-standing member of the Sweet Home Christian Church.
Mr. Wilson spent a brief time at Northwest Christian College. He worked in many and various jobs in the logging industry, and drove truck as well.
He married in 1966 and had three children: Kevin Troy, Jennifer Sue and Janine Michelle. In 1985 he married Frances Goertzen.
They moved to Sweet Home and called the community his home until his death. He retired from trucking in 2007 and spent his time reading, traveling and helping Frances in bringing joy to many churches and living facilities with music concerts.
Mr. Wilson is survived by his wife, Frances; three children; brothers Bill and David; sisters Wilda and Nellie; nieces, nephews and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Frank; and step-son Jeffery Goertzen.
Viewing will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 18, at Sweet Home Funeral Chapel. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 19, at Alford Cemetery. A memorial service will be at 1 pm Friday Nov. 19, at Sweet Home Christian Church, 1825 Long St.
