Three arrested in connection with break-ins

Sweet Home police have arrested three men in connection to a series of burglaries this month.

Arrested were Esteban Scott Garcia, 19, on three counts of second-degree burglary, three counts of second-degree criminal mischief and two counts of second-degree theft; Jacob Lynn Goodwin, 19, on two counts of second-degree burglary, two counts of second-degree criminal mischief and two counts of second-degree theft; and Zachary Andrew Short, 21, on second-degree burglary and second-degree criminal mischief.

On Sept. 3, police investigated the burglary of Buzz’d Coffee, 621 Main St., finding a rock had been thrown through an exterior window and broken the glass front of a refrigerator, said Police Chief Jeff Lynn. Cash and product were stolen. The product, packages of Capri Sun, were located about 40 yards from the business.

On Sept. 8, police responded to a reported burglary at the Sweet Home Veterans Club, 580 Main St, Lynn said. Burglars forced entry into a fully enclosed porch on the north side of the building, causing damage. Nothing was stolen in this burglary.

At 1:13 a.m. on Sept. 10, a citizen driving by reported what he believed to be someone inside the Truax Towne Pump office, and he reported the office door was wide open, Lynn said. Burglars had broken an exterior window and stolen cash. Police had a quality photo from the burglary.

Garcia is charged in connection to all three cases. Goodwin is charged in connection to the burglaries at Buzz’d and Towne Pump. Short is charged in connection to the burglary at the Vets Club.

All three were transported to Linn County Jail. Goodwin and Garcia remained lodged at Linn County Jail on Monday.
