Timothy Delano

March 3, 1950 – Jan. 15, 2015

Timothy Irvin Delano, 64, of Sweet Home died Jan. 15, 2015 at the Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Corvallis.

He was born March 3, 1950 in Stayton, the son of Ernest and Margaret (Howard) Delano. He grew up and attended school in the Stayton and Detroit areas. After high school, he served in the National Guard for several years.

He had been a resident of the Sweet Home area since 1980. He worked as a log truck driver for many years and then drove truck for Leavitt’s Freight Service in Springfield for the past eight years.

Mr. Delano was actively involved in AmVets and served as commander of the Sweet Home club for five years. He was also involved in the Elks Lodge for many years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, dancing, RVing, singing karaoke and playing cards.

Mr. Delano is survived by his wife Linda of Sweet Home; daughters Tara Kubacki of Yelm, Wash. and Tonya Edington of Rainier; stepdaughters Shellye Webb of Sweet Home, Kaci Noah of Newport and Staci Noah-Corriea of Chico, Calif.; brother Mel “Bud” Delano of Dallas; sister Marilyn Friend of Joplin, Mo.; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother, one sister and one grandchild.

A celebration of life and potluck gathering will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, at the Sweet Home Veterans Club.

The family requests that memorial contributions to help defray final costs be directed to the Tim Delano Memorial Fund at any Umpqua Bank location.

Huston-Jost Funeral Home is in care of final arrangements.
