Sweet Home High School graduate Tina Rappin Hill was recently inducted into the Hall of Fame at Linfield College.
Now a teacher at Redding, Calif., Hill is the daughter of Donna and Roy Howard of Sweet Home and Robert and Celia Rappin of Salem.
Hill’s induction was made on November 1 at the Ted Wilson gymnasium on the college campus in McMinnville.
A program listed her accomplishments:
Tina Rappin Hill
Athlete 1983-1987
Tina (Rappin) Hill, from the Class of 1987, was a multi-sport athlete who earned all-Northwest Conference honors in both basketball and softball over the course of her career that spanned 1983-1987. A guard in basketball and a catcher and first baseman in softball, Hill earned all-conference honors twice in both sports, along with being named the Wildcats’ most valuable player twice in both sports.
Over 15 years after completing her basketball career, Hill still holds Linfield’s career records in points (1,474), scoring average (19.4 points per game), field goals made (599) and field goals attempted (1,276) and continues to rank second in free throw percentage (.794).
As a senior, Hill was a Kodak NAIA All-Area I selection, an honor covering athletes from seven states. During that season, she set a number of single-season school records that stood at the time of her induction.
Her 675 points as a senior remained more than 100 above the second-highest mark. She also had the two highest-scoring games ever for a Wildcat, pouring in 41 points against Portland and 38 against Oregon Tech that season.
In softball, Hill led Linfield to its first Northwest Conference title in 1986. She was All-NAIA District 2 at catcher as a junior and at designated hitter as a senior for coach Joanne English.
Rappin was born in Lebanon. She graduated from Sweet Home High School, where she played volleyball, basketball and softball.
