Kristin Tolle was named the Huskies’ girls soccer 2010 Most Valuable Player at the team’s annual awards dessert held Dec. 8.
Jasmin Yoder was named Best Midfielder; Katie Virtue received the Hustle and Rookie of the Year awards; Kaitlin Keenon was Best Defender; and Megan Rubidoux was named Best Forward.
Coach Ramiro Santana presented a special award to Brittany Espinoza for outstanding achievement as Teammate of the Year. Espinoza was injured after the first game, but she never missed practices or games all season while she recuperated and was unable to play.
Santana also presented the Coach’s Award to the entire team. He had been unable to make a decision based on the statistics.
In all-league awards, Virtue was the first Sweet Home girl ever to receive an honorable mention as a freshman. Keenon and Yoder both received second-team awards, and Rubidoux was named to the first team.
Earning first-year letters were Rylee Cole, a senior; sophomores Haily Hummer and Meghan O’Donnell; and freshmen Courtney Kent, Haley Kent and Virtue.
Second-year letters went to juniors Hanna Currey, Rylee Links and Christina Ulmer and sophomores Sabrina Davis and Alana Long.
Receiving their third letters were juniors Jessika Stewart, Rubidoux, Tolle and Yoder.
Seniors Shelbey Gillespie, Keenon and Jazmine Morris received their fourth letters.
