Tourism Award

The local U.S. Forest Service was honored with a Travel Oregon Industry Achievement Award earlier this spring at the Oregon Governor’s Conference on Tourism for its performance in producing the U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree last year. Among those receiving the Oregon Tourism Communications Program or Initiative Award for the Christmas Tree campaign were Nikki Swanson, center, Sweet Home Ranger District district ranger, and Brigette Harrington of Beaverton, second from left, of Hillsboro, who won the privilege, based on a poem she wrote, of traveling to Washington, D.C., to turn on the Christmas tree lights.
