Ray Towry resigned as Sweet Home’s city manager Friday, Feb. 18, during a special meeting of the Sweet Home City Council.
The council unanimously accepted an “agreement and release” with Towry and authorized Mayor Greg Mahler, who called it a “separation agreement,” to sign the document.
“We accept Towry’s resignation to pursue professional opportunities elsewhere,” Mahler said.
Towry did not immediately return a request for comment. City Hall was closed Monday for Presidents Day.
The council also unanimously approved a temporary employment contract with Christy Wurster to become interim city manager.
Wurster served as Sweet Home’s city manager pro tem for seven months from May to November 2016, when Towry took the position. She was also the city manager of Silverton from 2017 to 2020.
