Huskies cross country coach Daniel Bixler presented the team’s Most Valuable Player award to senior Trey Reed during the program’s awards dessert held Thursday evening, Nov. 10.
“He’s probably the most coachable person I’ve ever coached,” Bixler said. He asks questions, trying to find out how he can improve, and then he does what the coach suggests.
Reed improved, set personal records and qualified for state, Bixler said.
Other award winners included Elea Hewitt, girls Rookie of the Year and Zachary Zanona, boys Rookie of the Year.
Ricky Yunke received the Coach’s Award.
Most Improved Boy was Tristan Saultz, and the Most Improved Girl was Lauren Taber.
Earning their first varsity letters were freshman Zanona and junior Cameron Taber.
Earning second-year letters were sophomores Noah Dinsfriend and Tanner Sayers, junior Ricky Yunke and senior Kobe Wilson.
Junior Noah Taraski and senior Trey Reed earned their third-year letters.
The Huskies placed fourth in a very tight Sky-Em Conference district championship team race on Oct. 27. Reed finished 40th out of 111 runners at the state championships on Nov. 5.
