The Sweet Home Police Department has arrested two people in connection with a Jan. 2 burglary at Sweet Home Funeral Chapel and has recovered property stolen in the burglary.
Arrested were Marco Ashe, 27, for second-degree burglary and first-degree theft by receiving and Jessica Samson, 24, for first-degree theft by receiving.
Detectives are actively pursuing leads in the case, said Police Chief Bob Burford said. One of those leads led to 1155 Elm St., where they recovered some stolen property, including tools and two vacuums.
Police arrested Ashe on Jan. 7. Samson was arrested on Jan. 8. Both were lodged at Linn County Jail.
“Police are aware that additional items stolen from the chapel have been at various residences in Sweet Home within the last few days,” Burford said. “And we’re trying to catch up with them.”
Police were led to the residence through routine case follow-up, Burford said. “Police also went to several other residences that are associated with this investigation.
“The investigation is continuing, and more arrests are likely,” Burford said.
