Two die in Highway 20 crash

Two people died Friday morning, March 18, in a two-car head-on collision at the weigh station on Highway 20 in Foster. 

According to the Oregon State Police, OSP troopers and emergency personnel responded to the crash near milepost 32 in Linn County at around 11:25 a.m.

A preliminary investigation revealed that 27-year-old Tawni Anderson of Lebanon was traveling east in a black Mazda sedan when she drifted into the westbound lane and collided with a gray Kia Sportage, driven by 59-year-old Gary Peppering of Sisters.

Anderson sustained fatal injuries in the crash. Her passenger, 30-year-old Acea Anderson of Salem, was transported to an area hospital with unknown injuries, as was Peppering. However, his passenger, 56-year-old Greg A. Peterson of Redmond, was killed, police said.

Highway 20 was closed at Milepost 32 for nearly four hours. The cause of the crash is under investigation, police said.

OSP was assisted at the scene by Sweet Home Fire and Ambulance District and the Oregon Department of Transportation.
