Two escape after car runs into lake

Two people escaped their vehicle after it crashed into Foster Lake last week.

Cassidy Gosnell, 22, was cited for reckless driving and driving uninsured.

He was uninjured. His passenger, Felicia Singer, 19, of Sweet Home, complained of pains in her chest and right shoulder.

Medics transported her to Samaritan Lebanon Community Hospital, where she was evaluated and released. Both were wearing seatbelts.

Gosnell, of Albany, was driving his 1996 Acura Integra west along North River Drive, said Linn County Sheriff’s Capt. Jeff Cone.

Allegedly attempting to negotiate a curve too fast, about 50 mph on a suggested speed of 25 mph, he lost control, overcorrected and slid across the road.

The right rear of the vehicle struck a tree and spun clockwise into the lake in the area between Marks Ridge Road and the Foster Dam access road, Cone said.

Both were able to exit the vehicle on their own and swim to shore, Cone said.

The car remains in the lake, Cone said. The Sheriff’s Office has notified the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and is awaiting instructions on what the Corps would like done with the vehicle.
