Shawna Yunke, front, left, and Mindy Brown, center, were the first women finishers in the Ultra Boring Ultra 50K (31-mile) race on Sept. 13. “We ran it together,” Brown said. “She waited for me.” They finished in 5:16. Also in the photo are, from left in rear, Shannon Pettner, Laurie Boyd, Heather Thorpe and Lori Girod, who made the trip to cheer Brown and Yunke on down the stretch – the last six miles. “Seeing them pop up on the course after the marathon mark was pretty awesome. It definitely livened us up,” Brown said.
