Despite having 13 swimmers absent due to sickness and the Scholastic Aptitude Test, Sweet Home still had a good day Saturday at the Albany Sprint Meet.
“There were quite a few personal bests,” said Coach Doug Peargin.
He said it was an advantage for his swimmers to get into the South Albany High School pool because that is where the district swim meet will be held in a few weeks.
“For the kids that went there , for a lot of them it was the first time they’d swum in that pool,” he said. “It’s a tremendous advantage for them to get used to it, to figure out where the walls are.”
Sophomore Sami Webb had a good day for the girls, taking first in the 200 freestyle (2:12.89) and anchoring the 200 Freestyle Relay team to a fourth-place finish behind Sisters, Stayton and Cascade.
For the boys, freshman Zachary Pearce won both the 500 (5:17.92) and the 200 (1:58.90) freestyles,
Peargin said he was unable to get team scores for the meet, which involved nine teams.
The Huskies will be back in action Friday at home against Sisters and Stayton.
