United Way of Linn County announced April 12 that it surpassed its campaign goal by raising $851,880, or 100.2 percent of its goal.
United Way credited the hard work and commitment of many community volunteers and businesses for the feat.
Heading up the campaign team this year were co-chairman Katie Martin of Willamette Industries and Chris Camomile of Hewlett-Packard. The campaign team included United Way of Linn County staff, board volunteers and 13 loaned executives, whose time was donated by local businesses.
“I am so thrilled that we reached our campaign goal,” Martin said. “It never would have happened without all the hard work from the loaned executives and the tremendous support of our business community. We have a wonderful community, and by reaching this goal, the community has proven it cares.”
Currently, United Way of Linn County volunteers are in the fund distribution and allocation process. During this process, 81 local community volunteers determine where the funds raised in the campaign will go. The process will be completed in May with recommendations going to the board of directors at the end of May.
