The Sweet Home City Council appointed Jonathan Meier to a four-year term on the Parks Board during its regular meeting on Feb. 8.
Meier is a recreation planner with the U.S. Forest Service and has experience in parks and recreation planning and general natural resource management.
He also has an educational background in community development and recreation management. He has been involved with the scenic byway committee.
“I can offer an easy-going attitude and ideas to maintain and improve the quality of life for all residents,” he said in his application to the board.
The city has two openings on its Traffic Safety Committee, which meets every month when necessary.
It also has one vacancy on the Board of Appeals, which hears building division appeals, and four openings on the All-Hazard Mitigation Committee. Both meet as needed but have no set meeting schedule.

Present at the meeting were councilors Marybeth Angulo, Jim Gourley, Greg Mahler, Scott McKee Jr. and Mayor Craig Fentiman.
Councilors Laurie Osborne and Ron Rodgers were absent.
The council had no other items on its agenda.
