Valerie Raymond

Valerie Delores Raymond, 80, of Sweet Home died Sept. 12, 2015.

She was born May 1, 1935 in Portland to LeLand Fay Bosshardt and Ella Catherine Sorenson.

She graduated from Jefferson High School. Later in life she received an associate’s degree in secretarial management in 1988. She was married to the late Arnold Lee Raymond on June 5, 1954 in McMinnville.

Mrs. Raymond worked for the United States Forest Service in Pendleton. She also worked for the Pilot Rock Gazette with her husband and had many newspaper routes.

She was a beloved member of community and church. She loved to drive and spend time with family and friends. She often could be found pulled off the road picking pretty flowers, hiking up a mountain trail or admiring a beautiful waterfall. She loved the outdoors.

Mrs. Raymond is survived by seven children: Diana Gasparac, Donna DeBoer, James Raymond, Jennifer Ashley, John Raymond, David Raymond and Wendy Chase; brother Richard Lee and sister-in-law Cristina Bosshardt; 41 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was a loving mother to many.

Mrs. Raymond was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold Lee Raymond; and two children, Phillip Raymond and Susan Cefalu.

A funeral service is planned for 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 18, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Sweet Home.

Final burial will be at Evergreen Memorial Park in

McMinnville.
