Vera Palmer

Vera Luvern Palmer, 93, of Sweet Home died Nov. 23, 2011.

She was born Jan. 31, 1918 in Claire City, S.D. to Leslie and Ella (Beling) Birdsall.

She moved west with her family after graduating from high school and married Claud E. Palmer in 1938. They met in North Dakota prior to their marriage and reconnected in Oregon a few years later.

Mrs. Palmer was a member of the Church of Christ and attended many years before she suffered a stroke 15 years ago. She worked for the Sweet Home School District as a payroll clerk. She enjoyed needlework, knitting and crocheting. She enjoyed gardening with her husband at their home for many years.

Mrs. Palmer is survived by her daughters, Claudia Palmer of Sweet Home and Ruth Palmer of Lake Oswego; a son, Paul Palmer of Eugene; three grandchildren; brothers Bill Birdsall of Sweet Home and Leslie Birdsall of Walnut Creek, Calif.; and sisters Pearl Kimball of Newport, and Florence Robeson of McMinnville.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 2001 and brother, Wilbur Birdsall, during World War II.

No services are planned. Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
