Sept. 13, 1933-Dec. 25, 2010
Vergie Ann Giddings, 77, of Sweet Home died Saturday, Dec. 25, 2010, at her home.
She was born in Hardington, Neb., to Leo and Jurritta (Shelton) Corson on Sept. 13, 1933.
At a young age, Mrs. Giddings moved with her family to Oregon. The family initially settled in Chiloquin and later moved to Sweet Home.
In 1950, Mrs. Giddings met the love of her life, and on Dec. 7, 1950, she married Charles W. Giddings.
They lived in the Sweet Home area where together they operated Pleasant Valley Feed for many years.
With the exception of the family business, Mrs. Giddings did not work outside the home. Rather, she dedicated herself to raising her family of two girls and three boys.
Later, the Giddings became active in local gleaner organizations until health issues forced them to stop.
Mr. Giddings died in 2004 leaving Mrs. Giddings behind, after which she spent much of her time reading and watching ‘vintage’ television programs, being especially fond of “I Love Lucy.”
Mrs. Giddings is survived by her daughters, Sherry Lynn Chuhay and husband, Tom, of Panama City, Fla., and Debbie Hoover and husband, Brad, of Milwauki; sons, Mike and wife, Gayle, of Lebanon, and Kelly of Snoqualmie, Wash.; sisters, Bertha and Vera; 12 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren; and her first great-great grandchild, who recently joined the family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; son, Walter; sisters, Thelma and Shirley; and brothers, Gene and Roger.
