The Sweet Home Veterans of Foreign Wars Post, number 3437, installed officers for the new year, which begins in June.
Stepping down as post commander, Jim Allyn said, “I would like to thank everyone out here for their support.”
That support enabled the VFW to have a successful year while dealing with a number of trials, he said.
Harry Smith is the incoming post commander.
“I would just like to thank you for electing me into this office,” he said. He then presented Allyn with a hat commemorating his service as post commander.
Returning Auxiliary President Bev Fredrick thanked the post for its support.
“I know we’ll have a great year,” she said.
New officers for the VFW are Dave McCutry as quartermaster. Larry Fredrick is stepping down as senior vice.
Departing Auxiliary officers include Michelle O’Brien and Doris Means. Cathy Lindsay also left the organization’s group of officers to learn the treasurer’s duties from Bettie Procknow, who is planning to retire from the position next year after serving 30 years with the VFW Auxiliary.
Incoming Auxiliary officers include Junior Vice Geri Hemby, Conductress Francine Johnson and Three-Year Trustee Dawn-Marie Rogers.
Other officers will continue, some in new positions, others continuing their current positions.
Continuing VFW officers include Senior Vice Lorenzo Pike, Judge Advocate and Adjutant Marty Lovik, Officer of the Day and One-Year Trustee Jack Schmidt, Three-Year Trustee Jim Allyn, Junior Vice, Larry Thompson, Chaplain Marion Fritts, Two-Year Trustee Howard Ruby and Surgen Bruce Procknow.
Continuing VFW Auxiliary officers include Senior Vice Brenda Hollenbeck, Secretary Rose-Marie Allyn, Two-Year Trustee and Patriotic Instructor Corinne Fritts, Chaplain Bessie Lovik, Guard Dottie Morse and One-Year Trustee Sylvia Smith.
