Virgil Larsen

Virgil Earl Larsen, 71, of Sweet Home died Sept. 23, 2011.

He was born Nov. 1, 1939 in Eugene to George M. and Mildred (Bunt) Larsen. He was raised in the Eugene area and lived in Sweet Home for the last eight years.

Mr. Larsen served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam era aboard the ammunition ships Ranger, Midway and Camden.

He was a jack of all trades. He was a fisherman from the word “go” and had many fishing buddies. He loved his niece’s deviled eggs and peanut butter pies and enjoyed getting together with his family.

Mr. Larsen is survived by his daughters, Amanda of Portland, and Ann Marie of Oregon; sisters Katie Coder of Corvallis and Peggy Schultz of Eugene; brother Johnnie McDonald of Corvallis; nieces Kimberly Kay Coder and Frances Dawn Lee Coder of Corvallis; and nephew Gary Burlington of Albany.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother George.

Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
