Virginia M. Taylor, 72, of Sweet Home, died July 14, 2006 at her home of natural causes.
She was born Dec. 2, 1933 in Yuma, Ariz. to Leonard and Ann Zavalas Kaldman. She lived in Sweet Home for well over 50 years. She married Louie D. Taylor May 20, 1950 in Yuma.
Mrs. Taylor began her banking career at 1st National Bank – which became First Interstate, then became Wells Fargo – retiring after 31 years of service in 1992. After her retirement she worked at Wal-Mart for another 10 years.
She became involved in many groups over the years, serving as secretary/treasurer for most. They included the local chapter of the Good Sams Club, Santiam Sams and the Coast Guard Auxiliary Sweet Home Flotilla. She was also involved in the PTA, Oregon Jamboree, and Sweet Home High School Band Boosters.
Her real loves were traveling and being with family. She enjoyed wintering in Arizona and going to her grandchildren’s games and concerts.
She is survived by her husband, Louie; daughter, Pamela Rassmason of Sweet Home; sons, Randy Taylor of Eugene and Cory Taylor of Mesa, Ariz.; a sister, Lucille Lucas of Las Vegas, Nev.; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 21, at Lewis Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Evergreen Hospice, c/o Workman & Steckly Funeral Chapel, 1443 Long St., Sweet Home, OR 97386.
