Virginia E. Stark, 90, of Albany, formerly of Sweet Home, died July 30, 2008 at Wynwood Assisted Living Center in Albany.
She was born Sept. 12, 1917 to Levi E. and Mary E. (Carver) Green.
She grew up in Valsetz. During the depression her family moved to Portland and she graduated from Lincoln High School in 1935. She returned to Valsetz after graduation and worked in the cookhouse.

The Starks started their family with the birth of their first daughter Susan in 1950 and then had second daughter Candace. Mr. Stark worked as a logger and later as a truck driver. He died on July 13, 1987. In 2006 Mrs. Stark moved to Wynwood Assisted Living Facility in Albany to be close to family and have assistance.
Her husband and family always said that she made the best pies.
