Volunteers are Jamboree’s VIPs

Editor:

During the Jamboree event I was fortunate to rub shoulders with many VIPs.

The VIPs I am referring to are the many volunteers who cheerfully gave of their time and talents behind the scenes to help make this year’s Jamboree run smoothly and seamlessly.

Many days before, during and after the Jamboree, countless hours of volunteer service took place by giving people who were not seeking any recognition. That seems to be rare in this day and age, but not here in Sweet Home.

Each volunteer I noticed was helpful and pleasant. Hundreds of community folk volunteered for small duties to larger duties.

Volunteers did jobs in areas that few people even know about. They are the real VIP’s. I spoke with one volunteer who was a camp host and who also took it upon herself to keep the restrooms clean and supplied. Not a very glamorous job there!

There are numerous stories like this of people who did their “little part” to help make the Jamboree a huge success for Sweet Home.

The pride and enthusiasm demonstrated by our own VIPs are what our community is all about and why it is such a great place to live.

The best part is that you can witness this kind of spirit and support for our community not only at Jamboree time but throughout the year in so many ways.

Thank you Sweet Home VIPs for your constant service.
