With their next program six months away, Dec. 3-5, members of the Sweet Home Singing Christmas Tree Board of Directors are looking for volunteers to help with this year’s show.
New members are being sought to enlarge the sound of the choir. There are no auditions for anyone wishing to join. The choir is comprised of singers of all talent levels, from beginner to very talented. Directors teach as well as direct and by the performance weekend the choir produces a wonderfully blended sound, members say.
To get on the choir list, people can contact Sue Olson any time at [email protected]. Or they can attend the first rehearsal in September, watching for announcements in this and other newspapers.
Stage hands, lighting technicians and spotlight operators are also needed. The positions require no experience. Other positions that need to be filled are co-director and accompanist for the children’s choir, a second accompanist for the adult choir and volunteers to turn pages for the accompanists.
People interested in any of these positions can contact Olson, Director David Dominy at [email protected] or Co-Director Ben Pickett at [email protected].
Instrumentalists are also needed this year. The Sweet Home Community Band, directed by Ken Collins, has been invited to participate and more players can be used. The band welcomes new members, from teenagers to “oldsters.” Songs have parts for brass as well as bass and acoustical guitar, specialty drums, and other stringed instruments. Those interested can contact [email protected].
All participants of the Sweet Home Singing Christmas Tree serve as volunteers. The group is a 501C(3) tax deductible organization that is dedicated to providing a quality Christmas program free of charge to the residents of Linn County and the surrounding areas.
Anyone requiring additional information can contact any of the above e-mail addresses.
