Paige Waldron of Bainbridge Island, Wash., won the Junior USTA (US Tennis Association) event in Corvallis held July 15-16.
Waldron is the daughter of Tom and Pam Waldron of Bainbridge Island and the granddaughter of Byron and Doris Mabee of Sweet Home.
The event was held at the Timberhills Tennis Club in Corvallis. Waldron won the championship by defeating her opponents 4-6, 6-2, 6-1.
Waldron, 14, showed a devastating first serve and fast-paced ground strokes which led her to the victory. She will enter high school this fall and hopes to be on the school’s tennis team.
