Wallace James

Wallace Lee James, 75, died on March 5, 2009 at St. John’s Medical Center in Springfield, Mo.

He was born on Aug. 18, 1933 in Pleasant Hill, Mo., to Hommer Lee and Edna Mae (Hon) James.

On Aug. 8, 1958, he was united in marriage to Betty June Wiley. To this union, three children were born, including Larry, Sherry and Travis James.

Wallace served in Korea as a U.S. Marine. He retired from the logging industry in Sweet Home in 1979. He spent most of his life in the construction business in one form or another.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Pleasant Hill, Mo. He was a good provider to his family and a trusted friend to many.

Wallace was preceded in death by a sister, Lois Haynes, and his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Betty of Sweet Home; sons, Larry James and wife, Kim, of Sweet Home; and Travis James of Lockwood, Mo.; daughter, Sherry James of Sweet Home; three grandchildren; brothers, Ray James and wife, Pat, of Scio and Larry James of Strasburg, Mo.; sister, Carol Small of Pleasant Hill, Mo.,; mother-in-law Ruthy Wiley of Osceola, Mo.; and several nieces, nephews and friends.

Graveside services were held on March 9 at Osceola Cemetery in Osceola, Mo.

The minister was his son Rev. Travis James.
