Addam Z. Reel, at right in the first photo, who was formerly homeless and is now a staffer at the Family Assistance and Resource Center’s managed outreach and community resource facility in Sweet Home, speaks to executives from local Walmart stores who visited the homeless shelter Friday, March 3, with supplies.
In the second photo, some $1,300 in supplies are unpacked for FAC, including blankets, men’s pajama pants, extension cords and single-use utensils from the Albany Walmart, and two laptop computers and a printer, with supplies, from the Lebanon store that will be used to create a tech center to help FAC clients apply for jobs, Walmart executive Ben Mattheisen said.
The Lebanon store also donated toilet paper and the Red Bluff Distribution Center donated a pallet of Sam’s Choice water.
Mattheisen said Walmart wants to “establish a partnership to help organizations make change.” He said the company is “really excited” to see FAC’s success and plans to continue partnering with them.
In the third photo, FAC Executive Director Shirley Byrd and Brock Byers, homeless shelter project manager, show a card made by clients to thank Walmart.
