Walter Lloyd Mulholland, 82, of Sweet Home died April 2, 2017.

He collapsed while mowing his lawn on Friday in the bright, warm sunshine.

Mr. Mulholland was born Aug. 18, 1934 in Malvern, Iowa to Lloyd and Isabelle (Yegge) Mulholland.

He moved with his family to California briefly, and then on to Sweet Home when he was in junior high.

Mr. Mulholland graduated from Sweet Home High School in 1952. He continued on to Oregon State University to pursue a business degree.

After two years at OSU, he joined the Army and spent time in Panama. He returned to OSU after serving his country and finished his degree, graduating in 1958.

Mr. Mulholland owned and operated a Western Auto store in Lebanon from 1959 – 1963, when he moved his family back to Sweet Home to take over the Western Auto store from his parents.

He married Wanda Weddle in 1978. Together they owned and operated the NAPA auto parts store on Long Street until retiring in 1994.

He was a volunteer for the Sweet Home Fire Department for many years and also served as an EMT. He was a member of Sweet Home Elks and really enjoyed attending the Sunday breakfast. He enjoyed bowling, snow and water skiing, hunting and, in later years, playing Keno.

Mr. Mulholland is survived by his wife of 39 years, Wanda; daughters Pam and son-in-law Mike Hays, Sue and son-in-law Rick Hall; son Mark Mulholland; step-daughter Vikki Berg; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Jan Wellhouser and Beverly Davis; and a stepson, Rod Oliver.

Honoring his wishes, there will be no public services. Private family services will be held.

Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
