Wanda Lee Estes, 76, of Sweet Home died May 3, 2008.
She was born Dec. 29, 1931 in Birchtree, Mo., to Thomas George and Ruth Violet (Mahaney) Malloy.
She grew up in Missouri. She spent most of her adult life in California and Oregon. She moved to Sweet Home from the Albany/Lebanon area in 2002. She belonged to American Vet in Independence.
She was married in Missouri in 1952 when she was 18 years old. They raised six children. The marriage later ended in divorce.
She married Claude Estes in California in 1962 and they had one son together. After Mr. Estes died, Mrs. Estes slowly moved closer to family in Oregon.
She was an excellent cook, enjoyed baking and crocheting. She put the needs of others before herself, always making others feel loved. She was always very independent. She surrounded herself with flowers, beautiful things and loved her family unconditionally.
Mrs. Estes is survived by eight children: Danny Collins, Gregory Collins, Randy Collins, Pam Hicks, Melinda Cuellar, David Estes, Kim Trailer, and Kelly Nidever; two sisters, Kathleen McGuire and Hezel Hilker; four brothers, Bob, Paul Jim and Bill Malloy; and 48 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her second husband, Claude Estes; first husband Daniel Collins; one son, Rick Collins; one sister, Lucille Henson; and three brothers, Clyde, Claude and Tom Malloy.
A viewing will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 7, at Sweet Home Funeral Chapel. A graveside service will be held at noon Thursday, May 8, at Twin Oaks Memorial Gardens in Corvallis.
