Wayne Gerard

Wayne Leon Gerard, 82, of Lebanon died Aug. 19, 2008.

He was born March 21, 1926 in Quapaw, Okla. to John Greyson and Dona Inez (Harmon) Gerard.

Mr. Gerard entered the Navy on March 27, 1943 and was discharged Jan. 21, 1946. He received the European-African, ME, Area Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Area Campaign Medal, American Area Campaign Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.

He came to Oregon from Oklahoma in 1928 and settled in Lebanon in 1992. He worked at Pop’s Branding Iron restaurant in Albany until his retirement.

He was a member of American Legion Post 51. He loved music, reading, writing, sports and his family.

Mr. Gerard is survived by his daughters, Diana Gerard of Albany, Cindy Davis of Lebanon, Shelley Gerard of Oklahoma and Julie Lytle of Lebanon; sons Monte Gerard of Sweet Home, and Edward and Casey Gerard, both of Lebanon; 14 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his wife Edith and daughter Gwen Wylie.

A funeral service was held Aug. 23 at Gilliland Cemetery.

Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
