I have heard that Sheryl Crow has been sighted around Sweet Home in a teal Corvette convertible.
For those who don’t know who she is, she is among the greatest women in rock ‘n’ roll today. She has a hit in a duet with Kid Rock called “Picture.”
Now mind you, I started this little rumor, but it doesn’t seem to catch on. I keep telling everyone I meet about it then tell them I’m trying to get this rumor going just to see how fast and far it can spread. Needless to say, it isn’t getting back to me that Sheryl Crow has moved here. I guess everyone figures it’s just a rumor I’ve started.
This brings to mind something else I’ve been hearing along with everyone else around town I guess, that Harrison Ford has taken up residence at Santiam Resort, a bed and breakfast sold at auction earlier this year.
Based on a little research, I have learned that Han Solo, I mean Harrison Ford, has been busy promoting some new movie. He’s been on all kinds of television shows to promote it. A schedule is kept on his web page, which can be found easily using Yahoo.
This doesn’t mean the guy doesn’t live here either. After all, I finally had someone tell me she eyeballed the man herself, driving no less than his now well-known yellow Humvee.
It really may have been him. In any case, it’s sparked a certain frenzy throughout the area’s star-struck communities. We’ve seen news stories in other papers and on television. A freelance tabloid reporter called me a couple of weeks ago looking for information. I doubt I was very helpful.
I’ve also heard that the people who actually live in the place are chasing the curious away. This could mean they want some privacy, but it could also mean they’re hiding Harrison Ford.
Who knows? We don’t. Perhaps the someone driving the yellow Humvee just looks like Harrison Ford. Maybe it’s him. Then again, I’m also told, by a Foster resident, that the woman that drives the yellow Humvee gets her mail at Foster Post Office every week.
I don’t think it matters much if Harrison Ford is here. If he were, and he wanted us to know about it, he would have dropped by for a cup of coffee. If he is here, he may prefer his privacy, so maybe folks should just leave it alone.
So Harrison Ford makes movies. It’s interesting; and if he’d at all be willing, like any other member of our community, to talk about what he does, we’d be happy to do a feature on him — Assuming he even lives in the area.
We also apparently have Sam Elliott living in the Harrisburg area, and Nokie Edwards is in the Brownsville area after living in Sweet Home. I’ve heard that from many eyeball witnesses in the years I’ve lived in the area. Where’s the stir over them? Or was there one, but I just missed it?
All of the rumors are probably harmless and maybe a little bit fun, but it really won’t be that interesting until it’s Sheryl Crow.
