The Sweet Home Ranger District could be closed and combined with nearby Detroit Ranger District or be downgraded to a “storefront” operation, depending on the results generated by a six-person study underway on the Willamette National Forest.
District Ranger Mike Rassbach said the forest is researching cost-saving options due to decreased revenues.
Rassbach said the forest budget is expected to experience 6% per year spending reductions for the next four years.
