Willamette Speedway cancels Saturday races due to heat

Races for Saturday, Aug. 20, have been cancelled at Willamette Speedway.

The decision was made due to the National Weather Service heat advisory of a forecast with extremely warm weather this weekend. That led to the decision to cancel the races with our main concern for the health and safety of all fans, teams, and track personnel.

“We apologize for this last-minute cancellation, but believe it to be in the best interest of everyone since Willamette Speedway is a completely outdoor facility,” said a statement from the operators, Trophy Motorsports.

The $1,000-to-win IMCA Modified race will be rescheduled for Saturday night, Aug. 27. The Super Late Models will be back for two nights on Sept. 3 and 4 for the Fall Frenzy Classic.

Willamette Speedway has two nights of racing next weekend beginning on Friday, Aug. 26 with Kart racing. On Saturday, the 27, the one-third mile gets back in action with IMCA Modifieds, Sportsman, Street Stocks, Hornets, and Dwarf Cars all racing.
