William Joseph Ross, 65, of Sweet Home, died April 11, 2006, at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Ross was born May 24, 1940 in Chalk, Texas, to Woodrow and Kathern (Alexander) Ross. He went to school in Guthrie, Texas, and graduated from Guthrie High School. He was involved in 4-H, farming and played basketball. He served in the Air Force from 1959 to 1962.
Mr. Guthrie married Brenda Harvey on Nov. 23, 1961, in Austin, Texas. They moved to Portland in 1963. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a letter carrier in Portland for 30 years. He moved to Sweet Home in 1995. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, camping, and RVing.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda; his sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Nancy Ross of Shelton, Wash. and Carl and Jerrie Ross of Sweet Home; four grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Lou (Richard) Hunt of High Point, N.C. and Lillie (Ken) Pressley of Moore, Okla.; brothers and sisters-in-law Carl (Cathie) Ross of Paducah, Texas, Leon (Johnnie) Ross of Jacksonville, Texas, and Leroy (Joy) Ross of Paducah, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Viewing will be 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. Friday, April 21, at Workman & Steckly Funeral Chapel. A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 15, at Workman & Steckly Funeral Chapel.
