A 41-year-old transient pedestrian died Saturday morning in a crash on Highway 20 west of Sweet Home.
Sarah Randolph, 41, died at the scene.
Sweet Home Medics and police responded to the area of milepost 25 at 1:30 a.m.
Brandon Smith, 24, of Lebanon was driving west on Highway 20 when his vehicle struck Randolph in his lane of travel, according to Oregon State Police records.
OSP had received reports of a woman walking in a westbound lane of Highway 20 and drivers narrowly avoiding her prior to the crash.
At 1:20 a.m., OSP requested that Sweet Home Police Department respond to the area for a report of a woman walking in the lane of travel.
A Sweet Home officer responded and found the woman unconscious and unresponsive. The officer attempted CPR.
Smith has not been charged or cited in the crash. The investigation remains open.
