While driving through Linn County you are certain to take notice of scores of sizeable bright yellow billboards and a wealth of smaller varieties cascading over our hills and valleys. “Tim Mueller for Sheriff” political signs unquestionably are not in short supply. Though my campaign never had close to the same presence, you will notice even fewer “Spasaro” signs in the county as the election rapidly approaches.
My friends and supporters have been busy raising money and erecting signs for my candidacy for sheriff of Linn County. Though we have not amassed near the funds or political signs as my opponent, we obviously posed a threat to some Mueller supporters. This is evident in the recent report of stolen (Spasaro for Sheriff) signs throughout the county.
Despite the fact that Mueller has at least four times more signs than our campaign, obviously, some of his supporters are feeling threatened by my presence and are trying to deviate from the issues.
Tim Mueller is a good man. I know he would not condone this behavior. I would like to call on my supporters to put these incidents behind us and carry on with a fair campaign.
It should be noted that Linn County is not the only place this is occurring – campaign theft and vandalism happen all over the country during an election. The question is, do the citizens of Linn County have more integrity than the rest of the country? I believe they do. This happening here in our rural community is just another reminder that we need to seek excellence in our leaders.
I am humbled by the support of so many in the community and I promise that when elected as Sheriff of Linn County that I will stand true to my values and utilize 30 years of unparalleled law enforcement experience to make Linn County a safer place to raise our families.
