Kyle Yeack of Lebanon, a former Crawfordsville resident, won the Modified Madness 50 Saturday night, June 25, at Lebanon’s Willamette Speedway.
Yeack took advantage of a late caution in the 50-lap feature, which forced leader Matthew Drager of Albany to pit for fuel, and caught Drager shortly after the ensuring restart, passing him for the top spot on lap 40 and holding on for the final10 laps to win his first IMCA Modified race of 2016 at Willamette.
In the Sportsman main event, Yeack’s dad, Tom Yeack of Crawfordsville, caught Sandy Sanders of Junction City, who dominated the early going, to seize the lead and capture his fourth feature win this year.
Willamette Speedway will be in action Saturday and Sunday, July 2 and 3, for the Clair Cup. The race is run in memory of longtime track owner and promoter Clair Arnold.
Super Late Models, IMCA Modifieds, and Super Sports will be on the card for both nights while the Sportsman and Hornets will be in attendance on Saturday only and Sunday the Street Stocks will be back at the historic 1/3-mile clay oval.
Tickets for each event are $14 for adults; juniors/seniors/military $10; youths $5; and a Family Pass (two adults and up to four youths) for $35.
Front gates open both days at 3:30 p.m. and racing kicks off at 6:30.
On Tuesday, July 5, Speedweek Northwest will feature some of the best 360 Sprint Car drivers in the world.
