Twenty-one Sweet Home youth wrestlers competed in Oregon Classic Qualifier competitions Saturday, Dec. 27, in Redmond, Newberg or Coos Bay. The 11 local youngsters going onto compete at the Oregon Classic Jan. 10-11 and their qualifying places (in their respective weight divisions) are:
Bantam – Travis Thorpe third;
Novice – Brandon Keenon, first; Chris Melcher, second; Tyler Schilling, second;
Schoolboy – Austin Bruijn, second; Zak Gill, first; Brian Malloy, third; Nate Melcher, first; Colton Schilling, first;
Cadet – Colby DeCleve, third; Trever Olson, first.
Other wrestlers who competed were Tyler Finch, Jacob Pricer, JC Elder, Cole Ashcraft, Anthony Hardee, Mikey Pricer, Barrett Stephens, Dylan Elder, Mat Pitts, and Ian Search.
