Kylie Armstrong, 16, will be a senior at Sweet Home High School next fall.
She is the daughter of Kim and Jason Armstrong.
She plays volleyball and softball, and she’s involved in 4-H. She also babysits.
“When I was young I got to be a part of the Junior Sportsman Holiday Court,” Armstrong said. “I looked up to the older girls and always thought about how I wanted to have the opportunity to be like them.
“It has always been a dream of mine to be on the court, so when the chance came around, I jumped on the opportunity. I love that being a part of the court. It gives me the chance to do so many things around the community and help out in as many ways as possible.”
If her best friend had to explain her personality, she said, she would say that “I like her hair. She is crazy but fun and is always a person to go to if you wanted to know baseball facts.
“She is talented in anything she does, and her love for animals outshines anything else about her.”
After high school, she plans to attend veterinary school. She will attend Linn-Benton Community College for two years and then transfer to Oregon State University for veterinary school.
“While going to school, I will try to find an internship at a clinic that will hopefully help me better understand the vet program and make school a little easier.
“My life goals include attending college at LBCC and OSU. After college, my hope is to get a job at a vet clinic and then eventually open my own.
“I will work hard to reach my goals so that way I can be as successful as possible.”
For a trip around the world, the theme of Sportsman’s Holiday this year, she would choose to go to “Barcelona in Spain,” Armstrong said. “It’s one of the oldest cities and it has so many different cultures, I think it would be just be a really amazing trip.”
Her favorite thing about Sweet Home is how close the community is, she said. “Everybody knows everybody, and the community is very supportive of our youth. If there is a need, our community will strive to meet it.”
