Sportsman Show
at Expo Center
The 2020 Willamette Sportsman Show will be held Feb. 14-16 at the Linn County Expo Center, 3700 Knox Butte Rd. E., in Albany.
The show will run 1 to 8 p.m. on Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. The Expo Center is at 3700 Knox Butte Road E., in Albany. The barbecue competition will run concurrently.
Admission is $7. Kids ages 12 and under will be admitted free, and parking is free.
Part of the fun this year will be a barbecue championship that includes not only the usual suspects – chicken, brisket, pork and ribs – but everyone’s favorite: bacon.
Dozens of exhibitors will be on hand displaying items and services for hunting, fishing and many other outdoor activities. Concessions will be available as well. Activities for kids will include gold panning, a climbing wall, a casting pond and Airsoft shooting.
On Saturday, patrons can purchase tokens to sample the various barbecue offerings – there will be something new each day — from more than 15 pit masters. Attendees can sample bacon recipes offered up by pit masters, then get the chance to vote for the People’s Choice Award for the best bacon entry. The winner of the barbecue Grand Championship will attend the World Championships in Kansas City, Mo.
The show is put on by the Jefferson Baptist Church and the JBC Men’s Ministries and sponsored by Coastal Farm Supply and Lassen RV of Albany.
‘Scarecrow in Oz’ at LBCC theater
The 45th annual Children’s Theater at Linn-Benton Community College presents “A Scarecrow in Oz: An Origin Story” at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, in the Russell Tripp Performance Center, 6500 Pacific Blvd. SW, Albany.
The story follows the origins of the beloved Scarecrow from the “Wizard of Oz” story.
Tickets are $8 adults, $6 for under 18, and are available online at http://www.linnbenton.edu/tickets, or at the door one hour prior to performance.

Frontier Heritage
Fair in Springfield
The 28th Annual Frontier Heritage Fair will be held Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 15-16, at the Lane County Events Center/Fairground Auditorium, 796 W. 13th Ave., Eugene.
Sponsored by the Fort Umpqua Muzzleloaders and the Lane County History Museum, the fair focuses on pre-1898 America, including mountain men fur trade, the Civil War and the Old West. The event will feature artifacts and replicas of the period for display and for sale. Included is a special exhibit of Oregon prehistory and displays representing the Hudson’s Bay Company, historic Fort Umpqua at Elkton, the Applegate Trail, Northwest Coast native art and a one-room pioneer schoolhouse with hands-on features for all ages.
The fair will include activities for children and demonstrations of historic skills such as weaving, spinning, quilting, woodworking, horn carving and flintknapping, along with performances by the Oregon Old Time Fiddlers.
Operating hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $5 for ages 13 and up, free for kids 12 and under when accompanied by an adult.

Trivia Night for
families at library
Bring the kids and put your collective brainpower together at Family Trivia Night, hosted by the Brownsville Library at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 20, at 146 Spaulding Ave.
Groups must be six members or less and will work together as a team to come up with their answer and to keep score. The only three rules are: 1) follow library rules, 2) don’t cheat, and 3) have fun.
Groups do not have to be related, and questions are for late elementary through adult – but all family-friendly.

talk sensory stuff
The Lebanon Garden Club will host its Second Monday Garden Lecture from noon to 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 20, at The Lobby, 661 S. Main St., Lebanon.
Master Gardener Karin Magnuson will speak on “The Garden as a Feast for the Senses.”
Meals on Wheels

Meals on Wheels offers lunch at the Sweet Home Community Center to seniors over 60 at noon on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays.
The Senior Center serves a separate lunch on Wednesdays.
First-time diners are invited to come in and have a free lunch to give it a try.
Suggested donation is $3.50. All meals are served with milk, coffee or tea upon request and diabetic desserts are available on request.
The menu on Friday, Feb. 14, is a Valentine’s special of roasted turkey or meatloaf, both with gravy, sour cream and chive potatoes, country trio vegetables, squash bread and Valentine’s chocolate cake.
No meal will be served Monday, Feb. 17, due to the Presidents Day holiday.
The menu on Tuesday, Feb. 18, will be creamed chicken and vegetables or beef patty with pepper and onion gravy, whipped potatoes, green peas, French bread and ice cream cup.
Volunteers are needed for both kitchen help and meal delivery.
