Berry sales for
scholarships
The Sweet Home PEO Chapter DD is collecting orders through Thursday, July 12, for marionberries, strawberries, and blueberries.
Proceeds go towards educational scholarships, loans, and grants for women in the Sweet Home community. Those purchasing berries will be able to pick them up on Saturday, Aug 11, from 9 to 9:30 a.m.

Business digital
deadline July 11
Wednesday, July 11, is the final day to register for a Digital Transformation Seminar that will be offered from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 18, at the Sweet Home Center, open to local business proprietors.
Topics to be covered include brand identity and consistency, website design elements, the basics of being seen on Google or Bing (website SEO) and integrating marketing through the web and social media. Cost is $29 for Chamber of Commerce members, $49 for non-Chamber members. Registration deadline is Wednesday, July 11.
Free follow-up one-on-one website audits are also offered to participants July 19-20.
These services are typically available commercially at exponentially higher costs.
Participation is limited to 40 people.

Froggy to perform
at Marks Ridge
Marks Ridge Winery kicks off its summer concert series with blues guitar artist Froggy at 7 p.m. Friday, July 13, at 29255 Berlin Road.
Bring your own picnic or snacks and enjoy open air seating at bistro tables or bring a chair or blanket.
The concert is the first of weekly Friday night offerings through August at the winery, which will feature a wide range of musical styles. Cover is $10 per person. No outside alcohol is allowed.
Ceramics class to
be offered in SH
A Wheel Throwing Ceramics class will be offered at Sweet Home High School starting July 14.
The six-week class, offered by Linn-Benton Community College, meets Saturdays from 1 to 3:50 p.m. Cost is $99.
This is an intermediate level ceramics class, and previous experience hand-building with clay is required.

Sig Paulson to play at Farmers Market
Sig Paulson will perform Tuesday, July 17, at the Sweet Home Farmer’s Market in the square at 12th and Kalmia, in front of City Hall.
The event runs from 2 to 6 p.m. and features local vendors selling all manner of local produce and wares. Musical performers appear each week at the market, which is scheduled to run through the summer.
Movie nights start
July 20 at church
The Sweet Home Mennonite and River of Life churches will hold Friday movie nights at 1266 44th Ave. beginning July 20 and running through Aug 24.
There will be free food and drinks each night as well as a free drawing for children 12 and under to receive a Veggie Tales movie.
Movies in the line-up include “Radio” on July 20 at 8:30 p.m., “Wonder” on July 27 at 8:30 p.m., “Friendly Persuasion” on Aug 3 at 8 p.m., “Storks” an animated feature will be shown on Aug 10 at 8 p.m., “Yours, Mine, & Ours” on Aug 17 at 7:30 p.m., and “A Bug’s Life” will be on Aug 24 at 7:30 p.m. as the second of their animated features.

The Albany Civic Theater presents the comedy “Bell, Book and Candle” July 20 until Aug 4 at 111 1st Ave W, Albany.
The basis for a 1958 American romantic comedy film starring Kim Novak and Jack Lemmon, the play tells the story of Gillian Holroyd, just your average, modern-day witch, living in a New York apartment. When handsome publisher Shep Henderson walks into her building, Gillian decides she wants him – especially as it turns out he’s marrying an old college rival. So, though witches can’t fall in love, Gillian casts a spell over Shep. But then she finds her powers in danger of being exorcised by … love.

of 1963 reunion
Sweet Home Union High School Class of 1963 will celebrate its 55th class reunion on Sunday, July 22, at the Sweet Home VFW Hall and the riverside park adjoining the VFW.
The potluck picnic begins at 1 p.m. Classmates are encouraged to bring a dessert, salad, or a main dish to share. There is no cost to classmates.

Free Medicare class
offered July 24
A free informational Medicare class will be offered from 10 a.m. to noon on July 24 at the Oregon Cascades West Council of Governments, 1400 Queen Ave. SE, Albany.
The class, offered by OCWCOG and SHIBA, is designed for anyone who will be eligible for Medicare or is new to Medicare. Spouses and other relatives are welcome to attend.

Mennonite Village will host its 19th Annual Older Americans Day Celebration from 8 a.m. to noon Friday, July 27, at 5353 Columbus St. SE in Albany.

play at The Woods
The Jimmy Haggard Band will perform at 8:30 p.m. Saturday, July 28, at The Woods Roadhouse, 6099 Highway 20 in Foster.
The three-piece Eugene group plays a unique mix of blues rock, classic rock, rockin’ country and Jimmy’s specialty, electric blues.
‘The Music Man’ on stage in Lebanon
Lebanon Association for Theatre Arts will present Meredith Willson’s classic musical “The Music Man” at 7 p.m. July 24-28 at Lebanon High School Auditorium.
A matinee performance will be at 2 p.m. on July 28.

Free Advanced
Directive class
Beginning in August, Samaritan Lebanon Community Hospital will offer free monthly classes for anyone with questions about how to fill out an Advanced Directive form.
The first will be from 2 to 3:30 p.m. on Aug. 2 in conference rooms 1 and 2 in the back of the hospital, at 525 Santiam Hwy. SE, Lebanon.
Hospital Chaplain Wes Sedlacek will lead the classes, helping people complete their own form during each session. Drop-ins are welcome but registration is requested either by visiting samhealth.org/SLCHAdvanceDirective or contacting Sedlacek at (541) 451-7129.

The third annual Sweet Home Community Health Fair will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18.
The fair will take place in the Sweet Home High School activity gym, 1641 Long St.
Health-related businesses are invited to register for a booth at the event by contacting Bob Dalton at (541) 367-5371. Booths will feature health screenings such as blood pressure checks, heel density scans, balance checks, dental checks, and eye checks for kids.
Also on hand will be information about the Oregon Health Plan and other insurance options.
Meals on Wheels

Meals on Wheels, also known as Your Table or Ours, offers lunch at the Sweet Home Community Center to seniors over 60 at noon on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays.
The Senior Center serves a separate lunch on Wednesdays.
First-time diners are invited to come in and have a free lunch to give it a try.
Suggested donation is $3.50. All meals are served with milk, coffee or tea upon request and diabetic desserts are available on request.
The menu on Friday, July 13, is chicken or egg salad sandwich half on wheat bread, minestrone soup, creamy coleslaw and peaches.
The menu on Monday, July 16, is turkey apple meatballs with cidder glaze or roast pork with orange glaze, colcannon potatoes, lima beans, cracked wheat bread and hermit bar.
The menu on Tuesday, July 17, is ham and Swiss or shaved turkey sandwich half on wheat bread, navy bean soup, coleslaw and applesauce.
