New hours at
Urgent Care
Samaritan Urgent Care Walk-In clinic in Lebanon has new hours.
The clinic will be open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The Walk-In Clinics are a good choice for patients whose health care needs are pressing, but not life threatening, and when they cannot get in for primary care provider appointments. Illnesses and injuries treated in the clinic include, but are not limited to: sprains or strains; earache; minor infections; small cuts or abrasions, minor burns; sore throats; rashes without fever; mild asthma; urinary tract infections; and minor broken bones, with skin not broken.

Sailboat project
needs volunteers
Adult volunteers are being sought to help kids build small sailboats this year; no experience necessary.
The 8-foot El Toro sailboats will be built systematically over a two-week period by high school-age kids, with volunteers available to help along the way.
A meeting for interested individuals will be held at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, March 8, at Fir Lawn Lutheran, 109 W. Holley Road.
The project will take place during the last two weeks of June, with boats ready to sail in July.
Last year the kids could not obtain sails for their projects, but this year they will get their sails, and new kids this year will also be able to have sails.

Squarenaders plan
‘Live Music’ event
The Sweet Home Squarenaders “Live Music Square Dance” event will be from 7:30 to 10 p.m. Saturday, March 10, at the Oak Heights school gym, 6th and Elm streets.
Square dance caller is Jim Voll, round dance cuer is Jackie Gale. There will be music by the Oregon Old Time Fiddlers, and a potluck at the break.
Suggested donation for adults is $5, youth $4; spectators are welcome to watch for free.

to hold workshop
The Sweet Home Genealogical Society will be having its 38th annual Genealogy Workshop from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday, March 9 to Saturday, March 10.
The workshop includes eight classes and six different speakers.
Workshop fee is dependent on number of days attending, and whether registrant is a member of SHGS.

Family Fun Day
Saturday at LBCC
Linn-Benton Community College will hold its 41st annual Family Fun Day for families with children ages one to six will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 10, at the Activities Center gym, 6500 Pacific Blvd, Albany.
Families can participate in activities such as play dough, obstacle course, crafts, bounce house, face painting, putt-putt golf and more. Admission is free. Activity tickets are 25 cents each.
A used book and toy sale will be held during the event. Proceeds from Family Fun Day support more than 2,000 parents in Linn and Benton counties who attend LBCC Parenting Education classes each year.

Poster-making
class Saturday
Brownsville Art Center will host a class on making posters from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 10, at 255 Main St. in Brownsville.
Learn how to make a professional-looking poster, no matter what computer programs you may have at your disposal. Instructor Shavonne Schumacher has experience in a variety of programs used by graphic designers. She will cover design principles, as well as technical tools to make poster-making easier. The workshop will also cover the different file types and how to convert them easily and inexpensively, as well as what to keep in mind when creating a poster to post on your Facebook or Website versus printing it out.
Cost is $30, including a non-refundable $5 registration fee. Bring your laptop to create a poster at the class, or your pencil and paper to take notes.

Kids ‘March,’ lake ‘Paddle’ March 10
Build Lebanon Trails will host March of the Munchkins and the Cheadle Lake Paddle from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, March 10, at the Cheadle Lake North Shore Trailhead. Participants are encouraged to arrive by 8:45.
Kids of all ages are invited to dress up in a costume or uniform representing exploration or outdoor activities for BLT’s first-ever March of the Munchkins. Children (under 18) who dress up will receive a BLT token and a copy of its Lebanon Explorer’s Guide.
The Lebanon Strawberry Princesses will be present to hand out costume prizes.
The march will proceed along the paved portion of the North Shore Trail and we will look at the plant life, wildlife and search for the rare Oregon Pond turtles that live at the lake. Strollers, wagons, tricycles and small bikes with training wheels are welcome. Children on bicycles are required to wear a helmet.
The Cheadle Lake Paddle will explore the Cheadle Lake water trail.
Bring your kayaks, canoes or other non-motorized human propelled water craft and enjoy the history of the development of Cheadle Lake Park from a different perspective.
The flotilla will launch from the north shore boat launch. Life vests are required for all persons in water craft. Dress appropriately for the weather. Dogs will not be able to participate due to the presence of small children.

Health careers day for teens March 10
Local teens are invited to participate in the Lebanon Health Career Ladder from 8:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, March 10, at COMP-NW, 200 Mullins Drive.
The free event is one of a series of free Saturday Academies in which COMP-Northwest clinicians, scientists, medical students, and our community partners engage the whole family in science activities to educate and build skills and confidence for students from Lebanon and surrounding communities in grades 6-10.
The goal is to provide opportunities for students to create, explore, and develop college and career goals and objectives.
Others will be held March 10 and April 21.
All sessions are held at COMP-Northwest in Lebanon. Lunch is provided for all attending. Adult accompaniment of students is required as participation from parents, guardians or designated adults is a vital part of the experience.

A free monthly gardening talk sponsored by the Linn County Master Gardeners and the Lebanon Garden Club will be held from noon to 1 p.m. Monday, March 12, at The Lobby, 661 S Main St.

Meals on Wheels

Meals on Wheels, also known as Your Table or Ours, offers lunch at the Sweet Home Community Center to seniors over 60 at noon on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays.
The Senior Center serves a separate lunch on Wednesdays.
First-time diners are invited to come in and have a free lunch to give it a try.
Suggested donation is $3.50. All meals are served with milk, coffee or tea upon request and diabetic desserts are available on request.
The menu on Friday, March 9, is breaded baked fish with Tartar sauce or kielbasa, both on a bun, whole kernel corn, carrot mandarin salad and frozen hot chocolate.
The menu on Monday, March 12, is cowboy campfire stew or chicken tetrazzini, cut green beans, creamy coleslaw, oatmeal roll and orange whip.
The menu on Tuesday, March 13, is hearty chicken stew or beef chili with beans, chuckwagon corn, tossed salad, sunflower seed roll and golden fruit cup.
Volunteers are needed for both kitchen help and meal delivery.
