SHEM will distribute Safeway Santa Buck Dinners from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 22.
These dinners are provided by shoppers who have purchased Santa Bucks.
Dinners will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. Families receiving Christmas boxes are not eligible.

Hospice seeks
volunteers
Samaritan Evergreen Hospice is seeking volunteers to help hospice patients and their families in the extended Sweet Home and Lebanon area.
Hospice is a system of care that supports people’s choices for end-of-life treatment, which often involves remaining at home. Care provided in the home allows families to be together when they need it most – sharing final days in peace and comfort.

Blood donation event this week
Blood donors are still needed by the American Red Cross during December, when supplies tend to decline because people are busy.
To encourage donations, all donors between Dec. 22 and Jan. 8 will receive a long-sleeved Red Cross T-shirt while supplies last.
Area donation dates and locations are:
– 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Dec. 22 at Linn-Benton Community College, 44 Industrial Way, in Lebanon.
– 1 to 6 p.m. on Dec. 29 at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Brownsville, 1111 N. Main.
– 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Dec. 30 at Lebanon Public Library, 55 Academy St.
8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Jan. 12 at Sweet Home High School, 1641 Long St.
– All blood types are needed to ensure a reliable supply for patients. A blood donor card or driver’s license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in. Christmas cantata at Cascadia church
Cascadia Bible Church will present a Christmas cantata celebration at 3 p.m. on Christmas Day, Dec. 25.
The public is invited to the worship service, which will feature Christ-centered carols, at 173609 Santiam Hwy.
Pruning classes
by Lane Extension
The OSU Extension Service in Lane County is sponsoring pruning classes throughout Lane County.
The 2017 Pruning Class Schedule is available on the web at http://extension.oregonstate.edu/lane/gardens.
Classes start with a Jan. 7 seminar on apples, peaches and blueberries at Thistledown Farm, 91455 River Road, in Junction City. A wide range of events are offered throughout the two months.
Pre-registration is requested for all pruning sessions. Classes will be held rain or shine. A $10 donation per person is recommended for classes and will be collected at class site.
Comedy auditions Jan. 4 at LHS
Lebanon Association for Theatre Arts will hold winter comedy play auditions at 6:30 p.m. on Jan. 4 at the Lebanon High School auditorium.
“Million Dollar Meatball,” a slapstick comedy, will be directed by Emily Latimer. The play tells the story of two bumbling jewel thieves on the run from the cops who duck into a failing restaurant, whose chef has just quit, and which is expecting the arrival of the city’s most powerful restaurant critic.
The show is cast with teens and adults. (Kids are welcome to come watch and join the fun!)
Rehearsals start Jan. 6 and performances will be Feb. 10 and 11.

Linn-Benton Community College will offer a 10-week class, Foundations of Business Success, beginning Jan. 17.
A free orientation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10, at the LBCC Benton Center in Corvallis, room BC-205.
Learn how to create and assess a business plan, as well as financial management, pricing, cash flow, marketing, sales, legal topics, insurance needs, bookkeeping systems, market research, and exploring the lifestyle of a business owner. One-on-one advising is included.
The class will meet Tuesdays from 6 to 8:50 p.m. Cost is based on income.

Meals on Wheels

Meals on Wheels, also known as Your Table or Ours, offers lunch at the Sweet Home Community Center to seniors over 60 at noon on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays.
First-time diners are invited to come in and have a free lunch to give it a try.
Suggested donation is $3.50. All meals are served with milk, coffee or tea upon request and diabetic desserts are available on request.
No meal will be served Friday, Dec. 23 or Monday, Dec. 26, due to the Christmas holiday.
The menu for Tuesday, Dec. 27, is pork choppie with gravy or chicken a la king, whipped potatoes, broccoli, oatmeal brea and pineapple.
