‘Snowy Country Christmas’ Dec. 9
Dala’s Blue Angels will present “A Snowy Country Christmas,” a country-themed holiday show for the benefit of the ABC House, at 2 and 7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 9, at the Lebanon Senior Center, 65B Academy St.
The 2 p.m. show is free for seniors; general admission is $5 and tickets are available at the Lebanon Chamber of Commerce, 1040 S. Park St., the Senior Center and the Lebanon Justice Center, 40 N. 2nd St.
Dala’s Blue Angels is a group of men and women who stand against child abuse, formed by Lebanon Police Department Community Policing Officer Dala Johnson.
ABC House is the child abuse intervention center that provides high-quality child abuse assessments for local children when there are concerns of abuse and neglect in local communities.
The cast is made up of local community members from Linn and Benton counties, aged 9 to 92, who have been rehearsing since the beginning of October. They will perform holiday songs recorded by famous country artists and also some moving spiritual Christmas songs – something for everyone.
LAFTA Christmas
show Dec. 9-10
Lebanon Association for Theatre Arts will hold its annual Christmas show Dec. 9 and 10.
Organizers say this year’s format will be new: a variety show somewhat like the Michael and Kelly show.
Along with vocal, dance and instrumental performances, and skits, it will include a performance by LAFTA’s a cappella group Voices In Your Head, children reading letters to Santa, people sitting on Santa’s lap and discussing their list, an ugly sweater contest that will include both cast and audience, and a cast joke contest with the audience selecting the winner.
Traditional hot chocolate, wassail and sweets will be for sale at intermission and the annual Christmas carol sing-a-long will follow.
Fund-raiser sale at Pregnancy Center
Sweet Home Pregnancy Center will hold a pre-Christmas fund-raiser sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, at 1344 Main St.
Organizers are collecting new and gently used items, as well as recruiting volunteers for the event. Donations can be dropped on Monday and Wednesday during normal hours of operation.

‘Nutcracker’ Dec. 8-10 at LBCC
Legacy Ballet’s classic holiday production of “The Nutcracker” returns Dec. 8-10 to Linn-Benton Community College’s Russell Tripp Performance Center, 6500 Pacific Blvd. SW, Albany.
Show times are 7 p.m. on Dec. 8 and 9, and 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Dec. 10.
The traditional holiday treat features adult and children dancers from Legacy, performing the scenes of this classic ballet.

Rock and Mineral
Club meets Dec. 14
Sweet Home Rock and Mineral Society will meet at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 14, at the Santiam Place meeting hall, 139 Main St., Lebanon.
The group promotes rock hounding, lapidary arts and earth sciences. Come at 6:30 p.m. for a potluck dinner, followed by the regular meeting at 7 p.m. Bring rocks for show and tell, and other activities.

Christmas pet
photos for KATA
Kitty Angel Team Adoption is offering photos with your pet and Santa at Petco stores in Albany, Corvallis and Salem from 1 to 4 p.m. on Dec. 10 and Dec. 17.
Cost is $10 and proceeds benefit KATA, which is a local non-profit organization that works to find warm, caring adoptive homes and families for otherwise unwanted kittens and adult cats, including feral cats. It also promotes responsible neutering of cats and provides assistance to low-income people who are unable to pay to do so.

Toys for Tots offers
Christmas presents
The U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program and four public libraries in Linn County are working together to make the holidays special for local children.
Families can sign up to request toys at the Sweet Home Public Library, Lebanon Public Library, Halsey City Library and the Albany Public Library.
Toy donation boxes are located at the Albany Public Library, Christmas Storybook Land at the Linn County Expo Center and in businesses throughout the county.
The U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program collects new unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year and distributes those toys as Christmas gifts to less fortunate children in the community in which the campaign is conducted.
The goals of Toys for Tots are to deliver, through a new toy at Christmas, a message of hope to less fortunate youngsters; help children throughout the United States experience the joy of Christmas; and to unite all members of local communities in a common cause.

Lebanon women’s dinner Dec. 13
Lebanon’s After Five Connection will hold its monthly dinner, and a special Christmas program from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13, at The Lobby (Formerly King’s Coffee House), 661 S. Main St. in Lebanon.

Guest speaker Trudy Monsma, originally from the Netherlands, will talk about “Defining Moments.” Monsma came with her family to the U.S. when she was 14. She was a music teacher, an obstetrics nurse, and later taught nursing to college students.

Meals on Wheels, also known as Your Table or Ours, offers lunch at the Sweet Home Community Center to seniors over 60 at noon on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays.
The Senior Center serves a separate lunch on Wednesdays.
First-time diners are invited to come in and have a free lunch to give it a try.
Suggested donation is $3.50. All meals are served with milk, coffee or tea upon request and diabetic desserts are available on request.
The lunch menu on Friday, Dec. 9, is scalloped potatoes and ham or beef Spanish rice, cut green beans, tossed salad, rye roll and chocolate oatmeal bar.
The menu for Monday, Dec. 12, is sweet and sour chicken with rice or pasta primavera, green peas, creamy coleslaw, cornmeal roll and chilled peaches.
The menu for Tuesday, Dec. 13, is turkey or tuna salad sandwich half on wheat bread, cream of broccoli soup, carrot raisin salad and spiced apples.
