Calligraphy at

East Linn Museum

Visit the East Linn Museum on the afternoon of Friday, July 25, to see Gretchen Schalager and friends demonstrate the ancient art of calligraphy.

Visitors may have their names printed as an example to be taken home with them.

In addition to the work of these local artists, visitors may also find quilts on permanent display at the museum of interest. Some were made by the Jolly Stitchers, a group which has been in existence since 1932 and still meets weekly at the Sweet Home Senior Center. Theater camp for

teens in Lebanon

Lebanon Youth Theater Experience invites all students entering grades 7-10 to participate this summer in a new Outdoor Musical Theater Camp.

The outdoor camp runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 4-22 at the Lebanon farm property of director John Kluttz, with performances scheduled Aug. 21-23 and 28-30. Open auditions have been held, but private auditions are still available.

Cost is $125 for three weeks, which covers scripts, T-shirts, meals and all other camp necessities. The camp will include fun activities, workshops and rehearsals for the Broadway Junior production of the musical “Hairspray”.

Kluttz has taught choir and theater locally, has been involved with the Lebanon Association for Theater Arts but found its children’s programs mostly geared to elementary ages. That’s what prompted him to create LYTE.
