Library to close
for computer work
Sweet Home Public Library will be closed Monday and Tuesday, March 10-11, for computer upgrades. The library is normally closed Wednesdays, so will re-open Thursday, March 13.
The library is changing from its current circulation/catalogue system to a shared system with Albany, Lebanon and Linn-Benton Community College. The Harrisburg and Scio libraries will also be joining the group.
The closure is necessary so patron and item information is “static” – unchanged during the upgrade process.
After the switchover is complete, by using a Passport Library Card, patrons can place holds and check out materials from any participating library listed above. Also, local library patrons in good standing can get a passport library card from these libraries for free. Currently, patrons are responsible for returning items to those libraries.

Gardeners swap
event March 10
Seedy Monday, a seed swap and gardeners’ networking event, will take place at 6 p.m. Monday, March 10, at the Lebanon Public Library.
The free program will feature a talk by Rose Marie Nichols McGee about Nichols Garden Nursery, the retail seed business that her family has operated on Old Salem Road in Albany for more than 60 years.
After McGee’s presentation, those with seeds or other plant materials to share will lay them out on tables for viewing. Vegetable seeds will be the main emphasis, but flower seeds are acceptable as well.
Expert gardeners will be on hand to answer questions about planting and saving seeds and other gardening matters. The Lebanon Garden Club will also provide refreshments and garden-related door prizes and hold a raffle for a gardening book. Other books will be available in return for donations, which will be used to buy gardening books for the Lebanon Public Library. There will be a swap table for seed catalogs as well.
