Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers are continuing the investigation into Thursday afternoon’s serious injury crash involving a passenger vehicle and a stopped commercial truck and semi-trailer on Highway 20 just east of Lebanon. The westbound lanes are still closed and traffic updates posted on TripCheck.com.

According to OSP Sergeant James Halsey, preliminary information indicates on April 24, 2014 at approximately 1:00 p.m., a commercial truck pulling semi-trailer was stopped in the right westbound lane waiting to turn into a driveway as a train was passing through. For an unconfirmed reason, a 2008 Chevolet Impala driven by a 81-year old Sweet Home man was westbound and crashed into the rear of the stationary semi-trailer. The car was lodged underneath and its driver was seriously injured.

Lebanon Fire District firefighters extricated the injured man and he was transported by REACH air ambulance to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center for treatment. His injuries appear non-life threatening. His name will be released later today.

OSP troopers from the Albany Area Command office are continuing the investigation.

OSP is assisted at the scene by Linn County Sheriff’s Office, Lebanon Police Department and ODOT.
