Feb. 2, 1935 – April 5, 2019
Larry Ray Green, 84, of Foster, died April 5, 2019 at his home, surrounded by family.
He was born Feb. 2, 1935 in Bakersfield, Calif. to Raymond and Grace (Allen) Green, the oldest of two boys.
Mr. Green served in the United States Army in Germany. He worked in communications for the field artillery.
He married Barbara Jane Hochderffer on June 23, 1962 in Fresno, Calif. They had two sons, Robert and Roger Green.
Mr. Green worked for Ma Bell, which later became AT&T, from which he retired. In 1990, the Greens moved to Grass Valley, Calif., where he worked doing TV/radio repair. In 1991 they bought property and had a home built in Foster. He worked in quality control for CelWave in Corvallis before finally retiring for good.
Mr. Green had a love for life, for his family, and for cars. His hobbies included automobiles, woodworking, gem/jewelry working and photography.
He had a wonderful sense of humor and loved telling jokes. He was a great storyteller as well, often combining the two to take a person along a journey culminating with a horrible pun. Hearing the groans of his audience delighted him.
Above all, Mr. Green had a strong personal relationship with his Lord and Savior. He would tell anyone who would listen about the wonders God could work in their lives. His strong faith never wavered, and as he was dying, he told his family that there was nothing to be upset about because he knew where he was going and had no fear, which has brought much peace to his family.
Mr. Green is survived by wife Barbara of Sweet Home; sons Robert and daughter-in-law Pamela Green of Nevada City, Calif., and Roger and daughter-in-law Amanda Green of Albany; two grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; brother Richard and sister-in-law Jean Green of Kent, Wash .; sister-in-law Bessie Wirth, brother-in-law Frank Beyer and brother-in-law Larry Hochderffer, all of California; and numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews, as well as his greater church family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Grace Green.
He will be dearly missed.
A memorial service will be on Saturday, April 20, at the Highway 20 Church of Christ in Sweet Home at a time to be later determined.
