Many families don’t have the privilege of stumbling upon an obituary already written for them when a loved one dies.
I did. My mom loved fiercely but honestly. Here is what she left to be shared:
The object in my life is to die, go to heaven and meet Jesus face to face, not stand in some line at Safeway waiting for a flu shot.
Goal reached!
I was born Aug. 16, 1938 in Victor, Idaho, number 12 in a family of 14, to Clyde and Blenda Jenkins. I moved with my dysfunctional family to a small judgmental neighborhood in Basalt, Idaho.
At 17 I left home to work on a ranch in Montana and in the same year, 1955, I married James Butler. We moved to Texas but the marriage ended within the year.
Returning home to Idaho, I started my career in the food industry by securing a spot as a waitress at Woolworth lunch counter.
I worked for more than 25 years at Pineway Restaurant in Lebanon. My last profession was doing occupancy inspections, where I enjoyed meeting and praying for people all over the county.
I married Bruce West in 1961. He preceeded me in death in 2011.
We lived in Idaho Falls and Boise, Idaho, and in Soldotna, Alaska before moving to Sweet Home in 1970.
I am survived by a son, Craig, and his soul mate, Tracie Gates; and daughter, Peggy and her husband James Curtis, and seven grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 29, at Sieg’s Valley View Ranch, 24960 Crescent Hill Road, Sweet Home.
